Randy was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona. He graduated from the University of Arizona in 1989 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and has been active in the residential design and construction industry ever since.
The evolution of his career reached a milestone in 2000, when he opened his own business under the name of Randel Jacob Design Group, PLLC. The focus of his architectural firm has been in the design and construction of upper market, custom residential projects as well as niche commercial projects in Arizona and Texas.
As a native of Arizona and the Sonoran Desert, Randy derives much of his inspiration from the ‘controlled chaos’ of the desert’s natural forms, it’s radical climate changes, and above all, the quality of ever-changing natural light. These inspirations remain as the philosophical foundation from which Randy’s designs are born, and are readily apparent in many of the unique solutions he has designed for his clients over the years.
In 2001, Randy formed Clavos Building Company with his partner and lifelong friend, Brian Ewing. It was the realization of their shared vision and expertise in both design and build that they recognized would better serve their clients’ increasing demands for comprehensive services and a single point of accountability. While Brian is no longer involved in the company, he will continue to be appreciated in assisting Clavos in its inception.
Randy is currently licensed to practice architecture in Arizona, Texas, Hawaii and Missouri. He also holds a national compliance certificate with the National Council of Architecture Review Boards (NCARB).
Randy resides in Tucson, Arizona with his wife, two children, one dog, and three desert tortoises.
